Customs Preventive registers 1pc growth in duty, tax collections

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has collected Rs 3,104 million duty and taxes during the month of March 2017 by registering a growth of one percent against the proposed target for the month under review.

As per details, the Collectorate collected Rs 803 million customs duty (CD) during March against the proposed target of Rs 904 million for the month. Similarly, the Collectorate collected Rs 1,521 million under the head of sales taxes during the month under review against the assigned target of Rs 301 million.

On the other hand, the Collectorate collected Rs 778 million withholding tax (WHT) against the assigned target of Rs 855 million for the month and Rs 1.79 million on account of federal excise duty (FED) during March against Rs 20 million proposed target for the month. Overall, the Collectoarte of Preventive collected Rs 3,104 million duty and taxes during the month of March.

Sources told Customs Today that collectors of Customs Lahore Preventive, Ch Zulfiqar Ali, has directed the official to do more to achieve financial year’s target and go after the tax evaders and never give up to any undue pressure.
