Customs ASO seizes narcotics worth Rs1.27b in different operations: Collector Saquif Saeed

KARACHI: Collectoate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 165 kilograms of narcotics worth Rs1.27 billion during last quarter of Fiscal Year 2021.

Addressing a press conference, Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed has said that Customs Preventive would continue playing its role in the elimination of narcotics from the society and urged the masses to point out elements involved in this dirty business.

He said that Customs ASO led by Additional Collector Omar Shafique himself recovered huge quantity of narcotics including 65.1 kilogram light brown heroin powder and 59.4KG charas, cumulatively worth Rs657 million.

In line with the directives of federal government, Member Customs Tariq Huda is monitoring the anti-smuggling campaign across the country with special emphasis on Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and Peshawar.

Customs authorities have tightened the noose around smugglers with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies and security agencies. An official said there had been significant reduction in smuggling in the last few months.

The recovered narcotics include Hashish, Heroin and Methamphetamine, which were seized in several operations.

Collector Saquif Saeed said all these operations were undertaken on the basis of intelligence reports in Karachi, at check posts and in the coastal areas.

It may be mentioned here World Anti-Narcotics Day is celebrated every year on June 26th. On the directives of Collector Saquif Saeed, Additional Collector Omar Shafiq, Assistant Collector Shafiullah and Superintendent Jabbar Niazi expedited the efforts against smuggling.
