Customs Preventive seizes narcotics worth Rs301m near Keti Bandar

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantity of narcotics including methamphetamine and heroin worth Rs301 million.

Sources said that information was passed through Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed to Additional Collector Umar Shafique that huge quantity of contraband narcotics will be smuggled out of the country through a foreign vessel waiting in the open sea from the coastal area of Keti Bandar by using fishing boat.

A team of ASO was constituted under the supervision of Assistant Collector Shafiullah and Superintendent Jabbar Niazi who proceeded to Keti Bandar. However, the culprits had left the place after knowig of ASO staff reaching the place.

ASO staff noticed a bag in a small wooden boat. Search of the bag led to recovery of 13.5kg of methamphetamine and 1.1 Kg of heroin.

An FIR is lodged against unidentified persons and investigations are underway.
