LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport has seized non-duty paid goods and articles worth Rs 24.48 million during the current year of 2017.
According to data obtained by Customs Today, the Customs Preventive team seized foreign currency amounting to Rs 31 million which includes $266,000, Japanese Yen 28,000 and UK pounds 15,000. The Customs Preventive also seized 125 tolas of smuggled gold, whisky worth Rs 19.18 million, 3,097 non-duty paid mobile phones, and chemicals worth Rs 8 million.
It is necessary to mention here that after releasing above mentioned figures, Collector Customs Preventive Faiz Ahmad hailed the performance of the Collectorate and advised them to continue to work with the same zeal and spirit in future also. He said that the Customs Preventive anti-smuggling teams have already adopted zero tolerance policy towards smuggling.
He said that due to comprehensive policy adopted by Customs Preventive anti smuggling squads there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts in the region.
He also told the anti smuggling squads that he is forwarding a summary to award performance allowance to all those employees who showed outstanding performance in curbing smuggling attempts.
