Customs Preventive seizes smuggled items worth Rs 8.13m

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Preventive has seized contraband items worth Rs 8.13 million till today of June, 2015.

Deputy Collector headquarter Yawar Nawaz told Customs Today that during the course of anti-smuggling activities in June 2015, Islamabad Preventive has held various illegally imported goods including two units of air conditioner with offending vehicle bearing Registration No. K-4105 worth Rs 1.7 million, foreign origin cloth worth Rs 1.3 million and 102 bags of smuggled tea worth Rs 1.2 million.

Besides, 5,200 kilogram of red chilli with offending vehicle bearing registration No. TKH-227 worth Rs 1.5 million, 380 kg foreign origin cloth, 625 kg Indian dry milk powder, a bus bearing Registration No. Z-1492, cigarettes, baby diapers, auto parts and tyres were also confiscated by Islamabad Preventive during the said period.

Deputy Collector added that department has further impounded two non-duty paid vehicles including Toyota Land Cruiser and a mini bus.
