Customs Preventive starts crackdown against ‘Lapoos’

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate-MCC of Preventive, while following the directives of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has initiated its crackdown against the private persons (Lapoos) working in various sections/groups by using Clearing Agents Smart Cards.

According to details, Additional Collector Headquarters, MCC-Preventive Feroz Alam Junejo on Friday issued order in the reference of the Board’s letter C No. (34) E&C/2015 dated 29th April.

In the letter, the Additional Collector Feroz Alam Junejo stated that it has been brought to the knowledge of the Board that many private persons (Lapoos) are working in various sections/groups by using Clearing Agents Smart Cards and the officers/officials User IDs and their passwords.

The letter further stated it has been decided that if any ‘Lapoo’ keeping a clearing agent ID is found working in Custom House or any Customs Station, the owner of the clearing agency as well as the Sectional Head in which he was working will be responsible and stern action would be taken against them according to law.

In the letter, the Additional Collector (ADC) MCC-Preventive Feroz Alam Junejo further stated that all the Sectional Heads in view of above mentioned information are directed to ensure that no private person call (Lapoos) is allowed to work at any Custom Station including Custom House.
