Customs Preventive thwarts attempt to smuggle mobile phones from JIAP

KARACHI: Pakistan Custom officers deputed at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) thwarted smuggling attempts at the airport.

Sources told Customs Today that on the tip-off by higher authorities, the customs team deputed at International Departure intercepted a passenger on suspicion and inquired regarding the travel documents.

During the search, the team of customs JIAP successfully foiled an attempt of smuggling by seizing 229 assorted brand mobile phones including Samsung Galaxy A-30, Motorolla E4 & P-30 with batteries covered in packing material.

Intercepted passenger was coming from Sharjah and diverted to red channel which led to seizure. The name of passenger is Muhammad Ali bearing passport No. ZE-1809361 arrived by Air Arabia flight No G-9547.

Custom Officer informed Customs Today that the tentative value of seized mobile phones is Rs 3,500,000. FIR against the culprit is lodged.

On the other hand, 10 tola gold bar was seized at International Departure by passenger namely Muhammad Hussain who is a frequent traveler and was trying to fly to Dhakka via Bangkok by Thai Airlines. Gold bar was taken into custody to initiate legal proceedings.
