Customs Preventive to induct new speedboats in fleet to secure sea routes

KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs Preventive has sought help of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for capacity building of the department.

According to the details, Collector Customs Preventive Iftikhar Ahmed has requested the FBR chairman to take necessary steps to further strengthen the capabilities of the department so that smuggling through sea routes could be curbed more efficiently.

Talking to Customs Today, Deputy Collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Preventive Headquarters Faisal Khan stated that soon new speedboats are going to be inducted into the fleet which would help the department safeguard the sea routes from smugglers entering the Pakistani waters.

Talking about the land route Deputy Collector Preventive Headquarters Faisal Khan informed that the officers are vigilant and are in coordination with other law enforcement agencies round the clock against any activity of the mafia involved in the heinous crime of smuggling and intelligence sharing has been developed in this regards.

The department was facing acute shortage of manpower after which new members are recruited to fill the empty designation and the staff which will not only overcome the deficiency but will also fill up the room providing the strength informed Deputy Collector Preventive Headquarters.

He said that the department is has such officer who never felt pressure after or before conducting any operation against the smugglers, the investigations against the tax evasion by the well-known private airline is underway and officers are deeply tracking every record to complete the findings as per the rules and the case will soon be resolved.
