R&A Director Farid Iqbal Qureshi given briefing on Electronic Import Form

KARACHI: The Reforms and Automation (R&A) Department of the Customs, after series of consultations with all the stakeholders including the importers, clearing agents, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and all commercial banks, has given a final briefing on the Electronic Import Form (EIF) to the Director of R&A Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi.

The FBR decided to implement the EIF in filing the Goods Declaration (GDs) from September 1, 2016. However, the importers and clearing agents expressed their reservations over the implementation of the form.

The FBR, taking the notice of the importers’ reservations, had decided to give some more time to the importers and clearing agents to understand the entire automated system of the EIF. However, the FBR has now decide to practically and formally introduce the EIF system for filing the import GDs.

It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities of Directorate of Reforms & Automation (R&A) have finally given the briefing about the newly launched EIF automated system to the Director of Reforms and Automation (R&A) Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi.

The Director R&A Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has expressed his satisfaction over the working being done by the authorities concerned of the Department adding that the same presentation would be delivered to the FBR authorities by the end of this month.
