Customs recovers 8kg gold from passenger at Peshawar airport

PESHAWAR: The officials from Customs Department have seized eight-kilogramme gold worth Rs32.4 million at Bacha Khan Airport during body search of a passenger who had arrived from Dubai.

According to Customs officials, the accused person, Nasir Hussain of Peshawar, had arrived from Dubai via PK-284. During body search the officials recovered 720 tola (eight-kilogramme gold), which was concealed in his belt and shoes.

It is pertinent to mention that the Customs Department had also recovered four kilogramme gold and Rs50 million currency during last two months in Peshawar and its Torkham checkpost.

The customs department, the officials said, had tightened checking at the airport and different checkposts to curb smuggling. Cases against the accused persons were registered.
