Customs seals guest house involved in tax evasion

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue has sealed a guest house allegedly involved in million of rupees sales tax evasion .

According to sources, Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue has received an information that a first class guest house which is situated at Jinnah Super Market Islamabad has dozens of first class air-conditioned rooms and charging rent of Rs 5000 to 10000 per room per day, while the income of this guest house is Rs 100,000 per day but the owner shows as only Rs 6000 per day  and is also involved in million of rupees sales tax evasion.

On the information the Director General Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue Dr. Bashir Ullah has sent a informer as guest. The guest house charged rupees ten thousand rent for a day from that person so the department has raided on the guest house and seized the records including stock registers, attendance registers, accounts numbers of the owners and his family, accounts statements and others in the custody. The sources added that the records and bank statement showed that owner is getting income than what he shows in statements.

A case has been registered against the owner while further proceedings are still underway.
