JERSEY: Illegal drugs with a value of almost £1 million were seized by customs officers in Jersey in the last 12 months.
80 people were prosecuted and 13 received prison sentences totaling 34 years.
The overall figure is down on 2013 when £2.4 million of drugs were seized and in 2013 when £3.2 million worth of drugs were found.
According to a report from the Island’s Customs and Immigration Service there was a significant increase in the seizure new so-called legal high substances.
