NEW DELHI: Customs sleuths at the Cochin International Airport on Wednesday seized 3.7 kg of gold (worth about Rs.91.27 lakh), from a flight arrived from Dubai.
The officials also arrested Bimal Pereira (46), a Sri Lankan national, under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962, for concealing gold in the aircraft.
The gold, in the form 10 bars, were hidden under the seat cover of a Spice Jet aircraft (SG 018) which arrived at the airport at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday. The flight was supposed to conduct a domestic service to Chennai.
