Multan: Customs seizes 56,000 litres of smuggled furnace oil worth Rs 2.5m

MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate Multan has seized an oil tanker carrying 56,000 litres of smuggled furnace oil during an anti-smuggling operation.

Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Superintendent Tanvir Ahmed Malik along with Inspectors Saleem Khan and Ghulam Raza Shah took action in adjourning areas of Layyah on a tip off. The oil tanker (TLS-938) carrying Iranian furnace oil worth Rs 2.5 million was seized by the ASO team, as no documents related to import of oil were provided.

Meanwhile, Customs Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Waraich has directed the anti-smuggling squad to concentrate on anti-smuggling operations in order to curtail smuggling through specific routes.

A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
