Customs seizes mobile phones worth Rs 0.5m

ISLAMABAD: Customs staff has successfully seized mobile phones amounting to Rs 0.5 million at Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar.

According to details, customs staff were scanning the luggage of passengers who had arrived via Air Blue Flight no. PA 0611. During the scanning, a passenger put his baggage on the scanning machine which reflected smart phones of different types. A detailed search of the baggage led to the recovery of 981 mobile phones of different companies having worth of Rs 0.5 million.

During checking of luggage no passenger claimed its ownership. Therefore the customs staff seized the goods in the terms of section 186 of the customs act 1969 for the violation of the provision of section 2(s)and 16 of the customs act 1969.
