ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Islamabad has impounded a non duty paid Toyota Surf worth Rs 4 million.
Deputy Collector Preventive Shahid Jan told Customs Today that anti-smuggling car cell received information via its sources that one NDP vehicle is coming from Quetta and will enter the jurisdiction of Islamabad during timing when shift of picket will change.
The squad enhanced checking at Fateh Jang picket. The ASO staff intercepted the Toyota surf vehicle model 2004. The registration number of the vehicle was LED 1033 and the staff asked the driver to show legal documents regarding possession of vehicle but the driver failed to show any legal document. The squad seized the vehicle under custom act 1969 and arrested the driver.
The deputy collector said that FBR has issued special instructions to all customs departments including Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Customs Airport Staff, Field Investigation Units and all checking teams to take quick and appropriate steps to arrest smugglers to curb the transfer of smuggled goods along with those who are using the smuggled and non-duty paid vehicles, under the customs act 1969.
The ASO staff who conducted the whole operation was led by Superintendent Zargham Dil, Deputy Superintendent Rana Shakeel and other staff, the FIR has been registered against the owner and further investigations are under process.
