Customs seizes non-duty paid cotton cloth

ISLAMABAD:  The Customs Collectorate seized ladies cloth from GT Road Mandra. The market value of the seized cloth is Rs 274, 995.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that he received secret information about some smuggling attempts, after which he formed a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Rana Shakeel.

The team intercepted a vehicle at GT Road and seized the above mentioned cloth. The customs team asked the driver to produce legal documents regarding possession of the cloth. But the driver of the vehicle failed to provide any relevant documents in this regard.

The customs team seized the smuggled viscose ladies suiting cloth and sends it to State Warehouse for further investigation .Deputy collector said that most of seized consignments and non-duty paid vehicles or offending vehicles preserved at State Warehouse Islamabad until the adjudication process make its decision.

The Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that FIR has been registered against the evaders who made the booking of this consignment from Peshawar and case has refereed to Investigation and Persecution department of Model Custom Collectorate Islamabad for further investigation.
