Customs sizes Indian gutkha, imported wine

KARACHI: Modal Customs Collectorate of Gwadar has seized Indian gutkha and bottles of imported wine during two successful raids.

Collector Saeed Akram received information that a huge quantity of Indian guthka was being smuggled. Consequently, he formed a team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Aftab Ullah Shah. The team included Superintendent Kashif Mehmood Khan, inspector Kazim and others. The team established check-points at the exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a truck. While the searching of the truck the officials recovered more than 800 cottons of Indian gutkha. The team seized the guktha and arrested four persons who were involved in guilty smuggling.

In another operation, the Customs officials have confiscated imported wine and charas. Deputy collector received information and raided at a warehouse on Gwadar Road. During the search of warehouse the team recovered more than 200 bottles of imported wine and 200 kilogram of charas. During the investigation it revealed the smuggler have a plan to supply this drugs in different areas of the city. The Customs officials raided at a hotel and arrested the owner of warehouse. During the investigation of the accused it revealed the owner of these drugs is a person identified with the name of Muzamel. The team told that the value of seized drugs is more than Rs3 million in international markets.
