ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Customs Deputy Collector Shahid Jan has said that the Model Customs Collectorate seized smuggled goods and two offending vehicles worth millions of rupees during last week from June 11 to 17.
Jan said that under the Supervision of superintend Zargam Dil the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized two offending vehicles from GT Road Peshawar. The expected value of the said vehicles is around Rs 1.4 million.
The deputy collector said that the ASO seized 1,075 kilogram foreign origin fabric and 272 kilogram black tea in the second week of June.
The deputy collector also said that under the Custom Act, the ASO seized miscellaneous goods worth Rs 1.57 million.
With special instruction against anti smuggling activity Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad collected goods worth Rs 3.713 million during the second week of June 2016.
Shahid Jan Deputy Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad (MCCI) said that Anti smuggling Organization (ASO) is making significant progress against Offending vehicles, non duty paid vehicles in this way the movement of smuggled goods has been reduced to a large extent.
According to details given by deputy Collector Head Quarter (Preventive) Shahid Jan regarding weekly performance report, he stated that anti smuggling activity is going very successful and collectorate is gaining better collection of revenue under the said activity.
He said that all of seizers made by anti smuggling Organization, the ASO is working continuously from 7/24, with fully back support of Collector Dr.Arslan.
He told that Collector Dr. Arslan has been announced performance allowance for all the staff of MCCI including AFU and Dryport Islamabad, the allowance will be given to the staff before Eid.
The Deputy Collector said that elimination of smuggling, which is causing loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer, could help reduce dependence on debts, he also said that MCC is trying its level best to overcome the smuggling trends.
Shahid Jan said that the smuggled goods and Offending vehicles have been seized under the Customs Act, 1969, FIRs have been lodged under the Custom rules against the evaders and further investigations are under process. Ends
