Customs Special Recovery Cell issues another bank account attachment notice

KARACHI: The Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of Model Customs Collectorate MCC Exports in its continued recovery campaign has issued yet another bank account attachment notice against an individual namely Muhammad Jamil in his alleged involvement in nonpayment of government dues amounting to approximately Rs1.4million.

According to details, the Assistant Collector of Customs SRC Exports with the consent of Collector MCC Exports Manzoor Memon has issued bank account attachment notice under Section 48(I) (CA) of the Sales Tax, 1990 against Muhammad Jamil in connection with the nopayment of government dues.

In the notice, it was stated that it has been confirmed vide the letter sent to the Branch Manager Habib Metropolitan Bank, Landhi Branch that Rs27000 is lying in the bank account belonging to the above named defaulter and the said amount has already been attached by the authorities concerned of the Exports Collectorate.

Therefore, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 48(I) (f) of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the authorities concerned of the Collectorate have served this notice for recovering the defaulting amount of Rs 1427328 along with the penalty of Rs550000 against the aforementioned individual and the authorities concerned of the MCC Exports transferring of the aforesaid amount to the Collector, MCC Exports, Custom House in shape of Pay Orders (POs) forthwith so that the same may be deposited in Government Treasury.

The sources confirmed Customs Today that the FBR authorities concerned have given free hand to the Collector of MCC Exports Manzoor Memon to take best possible steps in order to recover the outstanding dues against the importers cum exports.

Chief Collector Enforcement-South has already found pleased with the performance of the MCC-Exports Collectorate.
