Customs squad impounds 4 non duty paid, one offending vehicle worth Rs 5m

ISLAMABAD: The anti-smuggling squad of the Customs Collectorate has seized four non-duty paid dismantle vehicles, including an offending vehicle worth Rs 5 million.

Deputy Collector Preventive Shahid Jan told Customs Today that in pursuance of an information, the staff of the Customs Collectorate Islamabad established many pickets at Burhan Interchange and seized a Hino truck bearing registration number C-1034 Dir.

Deputy Collector said that the Hino truck was coming from Rawalpindi. The search of the offending vehicle led to the recovery of Suzuki Pick ups in (dismantle condition) with full accessories without wind screens worth Rs 3,200,000.

Shahid Jan said that as possessor of the seized vehicles failed to produce any evidence documentary or otherwise, showing legal import and lawful passion of the recovered foreign origin vehicles.

He said that anti smuggling staff also seized one offending vehicle Hino truck registration no GITB-1788 the value of said offending vehicle is Rs1,800, 000 in term of Section 156(1) and 157 of the Customs Act 1969 after serving notice under section 171 of customs Act upon the accused person.

He said that anti smuggling activity will continue during next financial year 2016-17 with more effective and modern techniques according to directions provided by the Chairman (FBR) and Collector Dr Arslan against the non-duty paid and offending vehicles.
