Appraisement Quetta Customs to stop mis-declarations & underinvoicing, legal trade to be promoted: Collector Waheed Marwat

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Appraisement and Facilitation Collector Waheed Marwat said that Customs Taftan Border will be operational with consultation of the business community of Quetta while only legal business should be facilitated.

Talking with Customs Today Waheed Marwat said that Quetta Collectorate always promoted and protected legal businesses he appreciated role of QCCI (Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and said that QCCI played important role regarding promotion of legal business in the region.

Answering to a query the Collector said that all efforts has done to facilitate importers and exporters, he added that he will try his level best to interact with the business community of Quetta with every 40 days, so he can understand and solve issues faced by the importers and exporters, he believed if all stake holders gather to discuss matters with good intentions issues could solve easily Waheed said.

Answering to another query he said that it is my duty to provide protection to those who want to do legal business, I will make all possible efforts to provide all the facilitation to those who are facing hurdles during performing legal business activity under jurisdiction of MCC (model customs collectorate) Quetta whereas I also expecting cooperation from business community to perform my responsibilities as per law.

He said that he will not allow smuggling of diesel and other POL product on name of white sprit as well as smuggling of flour and sugar these offences will strictly discourage, he added that business community especially members of QCCI should constitute committees to solve issues of those business persons who work at bordering areas, these committees should provide help lines details, Customs authority contact details so issues with business community working at  joint border neighboring countries so the hurdles should be solve.

Replying to a query about scanners and clearance of vehicles he said that I will try to make speedy clearance of vehicles through the Chamman border in this regards another scanner at same border will be installed soon whereas another 3rd scanner’s installation is also under propriety while its tender has awarded.

Regarding values of goods he said, the Collectorate will follow same policy for all businessmen regarding value, he added that a software will be handed over to check posts which will monitor via LEDs and no one will allow to annoy vehicles carrying legal goods in this regards he will visit Chaman and Taftan border to stop uncertainty among businessmen who are working in Baluchistan so legal economic activity of the region could promoted.

He said no items will allow to cross border which is restricted by the Federal Government, he added that we must fully trust on our forensic labs he also told that Transit trade soon will be started. Ends
