ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal has received no petition since the tribunal’s Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti left for visiting regional offices on October 8.
Assistant Registrar, Wazir Muhammad said that in absence of chairman in the capital city, petitioners do not prefer filing petitions at the tribunal headquarters.
He underscored that no petitioner had rushed to file a case since departure of the chairman. Wazir said that this was so because petitioners wanted immediate relief in most taxation matters. Therefore, they usually file their petitions at regional offices, where the chairman would be present at that time.
He said as the chairman would return to Islamabad, the filing of petitions would resume in the headquarters of the tribunal.
