Customs values of frequency inverters determined

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has determined the customs values of frequency inverters vide Valuation Ruling No. 751/2015.

It may be mentioned here that of the Directorate General received information that the frequency inverters are being imported at lower and variable values. Therefore, an exercise to determine the customs values of the subject goods was initiated.

Meetings were held with stakeholders including importers, local manufacturers and representatives of trade bodies.

During the meetings, importers appreciated determination of customs values of frequency inverters and stated that the frequency inverters are also used for industrial purpose and that their prices depend on kilowatt ranging from 0.75 kilowatt to 185 kilowatt. They are mostly importer from China. They further proposed that the prices of frequency inverter may be considered in kilograms.

From now onward, the frequency inverter below 1 kilowatt without battery under PCT 8504.4090 of China origin would be assessed to duty and taxes at $40/kilowatt; frequency inverter of 1kilowatt and above without battery under PCT 8504.4090 of China origin would be assessed to duty and taxes at $35/ kilowatt.
