TEHRAN: Cyprus eyes to boost tourism and trade ties with Iran as Cypriot Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis confirmed this virtually by launching direct flights between Iran and Cyprus which will help both countries expand tourism with each other.
He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mohammadreza Ne’matzadeh.
He added that the two countries have great potential to increase cooperation in shipping, hotel construction, healthcare, and tourism sectors.
Ne’matzadeh, for his part, referred to Iran’s capabilities in oil and gas sectors, adding that the country is ready to implement technical and engineering projects in Cyprus.
Iran’s non-oil exports rose 24.21 percent in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2014-January 20, 2015), compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the Iran Customs Administration.
Iran exported 81.968 million tons of non-oil goods, worth $42.584 billion, and imported 34.38 million tons of non-oil goods, worth $43.677 billion during the ten-month period.
