DAHOD: Dahod police seized liquor worth Rs 1.17 crore and arrested seven persons for smuggling them on three vehicles from neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off that a huge consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) smuggled on three trucks were being stored at a place in Lilva Thakor village near Limdi in Dahod district, a team of police conducted raid on Thursday and seized premium brands of alcohol and beer that is estimated to cost Rs 1,17,29,616 as per their market value.
Three vehicles — a Tata 407 mini truck and two Eicher truck — were also spotted parked at the same place which were used to ferry the liquor. Upon further investigation, police intercepted the vehicles and arrested seven persons, including Kamlesh Lalsinh Munia, Dilip Marwad, Joginder Sharma and Vinod Sidhi. Vehicles, estimated to cost Rs 35 lakh, were also taken under custody. With this, the total seized materials went up to Rs 1.52 crore, police said. The accused were arrested under various provisions of the Bombay Prohibition (Gujarat Amendment) Act, 2009, including section 66(1)B, 65(A)(E), and section 81. further investigations were on, police said.
