Dar directs EAD to speed up work on CPEC projects

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, while chairing a meeting to review the economic projects under the aegis of Economic Affairs Division (EAD), has directed the Division to expedite work on the projects come under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to the official statement, EAD Secretary Saleem Sethi gave a detail update about financing arrangements of rehabilitation of TDPs. Additional Secretary Finance and other senior officials of the Finance Ministry and EAD also attended the meeting.

The minister referred to recent agreement signed with China on award of special grant of $10 million, supporting Pakistani government in rehabilitation of FATA’s IDPs and promoting social development in the area.

Dar also emphasised proper utilisation of these funds and said the government was deeply focusing on resettlement of TDPs. He said that all possible efforts would be made in this regard. The minister also sought details about projects and programmes that EAD envisaged to be implemented in FATA with the assistance of Chinese government.
