Dar for further enhancing Pak-US economic ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ambassador in US, Jalil Abbas Jillani, has called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and discussed follow up action on decisions taken during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the US with particular focus on enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries.

They exchanged views on Pakistan’s active participation in the recently held conference in Paris on the issue of climate change, a subject which received due focus during Prime Minister’s US visit.

The minister, while appreciating Ambassador Jillani’s dedication and resolve to further the cause of Pak-US relations, added that Pak-US economic relations have grown from strength to strength but continue to be characterised by vast untapped potential. He emphasised that due focus be laid on the meeting of Pak-US Working Group on finance and economic cooperation due early next year and hoped it would help strengthen bilateral economic ties.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi also paid a courtesy call on the finance minister. She apprised the Finance Minister about her efforts to positively project Pakistan’s standpoint on various issues of national and international significance at the forum of UN. She particularly mentioned the issue of Kashmir and Pakistan’s continued efforts to eradicate the menace of militancy which had received international recognition.
