Dar for maintaining fertiliser stock

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has stressed on the need for maintaining strategic reserves of fertilisers at all times in order to ensure food security.

The minister expressed these views while chairing a meeting held here to review the stock position of fertilisers in the country in view of the forthcoming cropping season. He was briefed on the fertiliser production and inventory position in the country.

Fauji Fertilizer Company Ltd Managing Director/CEO Lt Gen Shafqaat Ahmed (r) informed the minister about the role being played by the company in meeting the country’s fertiliser requirements. He thanked Dar for extending full support to the industry and FFC.

The minister appreciated the contribution made by FFC to ensure stability in the supply of fertiliser in the country, and assured that the government would continue to provide across the board facilitation to the industry.

FFC MD, on the occasion, briefed Dar on the prospects for international trade in the fertilizing sector. He, particularly, brought to his knowledge specific export opportunities.

Secretary Finance, secretary National Food Security, FBR chairman, secretary Ports & Shipping, secretary Petroleum attended the meeting besides others.
