Dar praises FBR Chairman & team for revenue collection

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has lauded the efforts of the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Dr. Mohammad Irshad, and his team for revenue collection and expressed the hope that the FBR will meet the revenue targets of the current financial year.

He stated this while chairing a meeting held at the FBR House to review the current situation of the revenue collection and matters related to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Chairman FBR Dr. Muhammad Irshad briefed the minister on the fresh figures of revenue collection during FY 2016-17 and said FBR is using all possible ways for revenue collection. He further told the finance minister that all efforts are being made to attain the collection target of the current fiscal year. He said that a comprehensive strategy is being developed for tax collection in FY 2017-18, and it would be presented to the minister in due course. The minister urged the FBR to take all necessary measures to meet the tax collection targets of the current fiscal year. He said the prudent policies of the present government and the efforts of the FBR have resulted in 60% growth in the tax revenue collection between FY2012-2013 and FY2015-2016.

He assured the FBR of his full support for achieving the revenue targets for FY2017-18. The minister appreciated tion othe contribuf the FBR officials to the preparation of the budget for FY2017-18, which has recently been passed by parliament.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan, Finance Secretary, Secretary EAD, Chairman FBR, and senior officials of the ministry of finance and FBR attended the meeting.
