Dar reviews arrangements for CAREC conference

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday reviewed preparations for the 15th Ministerial Conference of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) scheduled to be held here on Wednesday Chairing a meeting here, the minister said that conference would play a vital role in the economic development of the CAREC region and begin an era of economic cooperation and integration of the CAREC area.

The minister was briefed about arrangements for the conference and receiving foreign dignitaries.

The Economic Affairs Division in collaboration with the Asian Development (ADB) will host 15th Ministerial Conference of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) countries (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia (as an observer) on October 26.

Approximately, 200 participants from 10 member countries and multilateral development partners will attend the events.The Managing Director International Monetary Fund, and President Asian Development Bank (ADB) are also schedule to participate in the event.

The meeting looked into arrangements made for the visits of dignitaries that will be participating in the event, besides exploring ways to make the visits and conference productive and meaningful. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, and State Bank of Pakistan.
