ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the government will not increase power tariff on the direction of International Monetary Fund (IMF) before receiving fifth tranche worth of $550 million.
While talking to media, he said that the government had decided to fulfil other IMF’s demands of auctioning Sukuk, divestment of OGDCL shares, rather increase in power tariff.
Earlier, the government had agreed with the IMF to revise the electricity tariff in October as loadshedding would ease with a fall in temperatures.
The minister said the government was planning to improve the foreign exchange reserves beyond $15 billion by the end of September to qualify for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s facilities for development projects.
