ISLAMABAD: Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that his ministry will work in collaboration with the provincial governments to formulate policies for enhancing cotton produce in the country.
Talking to the representatives of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), he said that prime concern of the government was to ensure that interests of the farmers were safeguarded and the textile exports received a boost. The role of Trading Corporation of Pakistan and the effects of cotton import policy also came under discussion. The minister also urged the representatives of PCGA to launch a campaign for educating the farmers on how to increase the cotton yield.
It was also decided that a meeting of all the stakeholders would be convened to chalk out a holistic strategy to address the issues of cotton production, quality of cotton and its import mechanism.
