Dastgir to administer oath of Jhang chamber office-bearers today

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir will administer oath of the new office-bearers of Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) today (Tuesday).

Well placed source at Ministry of Commerce said that the Minister would proceed to Jhang in the afternoon from Islamabad and would administer oath of the newly-elected office-bearers of JCCI at an august ceremony there.

It is pertinent to mention that JCCI election for the term of 2014-15 was held last month. According to JCCI Secretary General election process kicked off with the display of election schedule on July 15 and would culminate with the announcement of election results within the meaning of Section 14(2) (f) (iii) of the Trade Organizations Ordinance in General Meeting of the Chamber called for this purpose on today (September 30).

As per election schedule, election commission issued final list of candidates on September 16 and polling was held on at the registered office of the Chamber, for Corporate Members on September 23 and 24 and commission announced the results after counting of votes. The Commission declared provisional results same-day. Similarly, election for the women reserved seats was held on September 25.
