DC Abdul Qudoos passes away following attack by smugglers

QUETTA: Deputy Collector MCC Preventive Quetta Abdul Qudoos Sheikh succumbed to his injuries and passed away in a hospital in Karachi on Tuesday morning.

Sheikh was attacked at Gahi Khan Chowk when he was returning home after seizing smuggled goods during an operation in the Kolpur area of Quetta. He remained in coma with ruptured lungs and broken jaw.

Dr Sheikh was initially shifted to the trauma centre in Quetta. He was flown to Karachi on a chartered plane last night, where he passed away.

According to sources, unidentified men had stopped his car at gunpoint, beat him up severely and fled. After registering an FIR, police arrested notorious smuggler Haji Abdul Sadiq Achakzai and his associates Tofan Khan and Ahmad Shah in connection with murder attempt on Deputy Collector Preventive Abdul Qudoos Sheikh.
