DC Asma issues ONO in favour of Faisalabad ASO

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of Faisalabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO).

As per details, the Faisalabad ASO during a raid recovered foreign origin 4800 bottles of Rani Juice and asked the owner, Malik Sohail son of Malik Shafiq, to produce the documents showing the legal import of the items but he remained fail.

Therefore, the officials seized the Juices under Section 16 and 18 of the Customs Act, 1969. Later, the case was forward to adjudication.

The adjudication authority found the items smuggled one, as the owner of items shown his willingness to pay duty/taxes leviable on the seized goods.

Therefore, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed ordered to impound the goods in favour of the federal government under Section 156(1) 90 of the Customs Act, 1969. She further stated, “Since the impugned goods are non-notified, a lenient view is taken and option under Section 181 of the Customs Act is given to the lawful owner to redeem their respective seized goods in lieu of confiscation on payments of duty and taxes leiviable on goods plus a redemption fine of 20 percent of the customs value to be appraised by the Faisalabad Customs.
