KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) achieved another milestone by collecting Rs54,109.87 million during Fiscal Year2020-2021.
Talking with Customs Today Deputy Collector Inamullah Wazir said that Customs JIAP collected a total revenue Rs54,109.87 million during F.Y. 2020-21 as compare to the collection of Rs49,391.52 during F.Y. 2019-20 which reflects a growth of 9.5 percent despite resurgence of Covid-19 throughout the year.
The collection of fiscal year 2020-2021 includes record receipt of customs duty Rs22,635.38 million, sales tax Rs21,361.76 million, income tax Rs10,106.14 and FED Rs6.59 million.
During Fiscal Year 2020-21 Customs Collectorate of Jinnah International Airport had foiled 743 smuggling attempts and seized assorted goods including 22-cases of Narcotics (cocaine, heroin, opium, marijuana, liquor, medicine, cigarettes worth Rs.318.99 million).
Deputy Collector Inamullah Wazir said that 14-cases of gold/jewelery (weighing 5,532.4gm Rs50.27 million), 4-cases Silver (weighing 30,084gm, Rs4.15 million), 7-cases of currency (Rs21.6 million), 56-cases of mobile phones (Rs86.92 million) and 28-cases of electronic Merchandize (Rs.142.82 million) with a total value of Rs624.75 million.
The Collectorate also arrested 31 accused under the Customs Act, 1969 and Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997 which showed outstanding performance and tight vigilance of Customs staff of Karachi Airport
