The team asked the owners of the item, who introduced themselves as Moti Dying, to show documents regarding the legal import of the fabrics but they could not produce the same.

So the officials took into possession the smuggled fabrics under the customs bylaws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now Deputy Collector Saima Ayaz served a notice on the accused on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act-1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act-1969 and called them to show the cause as to why said item should not be confiscated under the aforementioned provisions of the bylaws.

However the adjudication has directed the accused to file a reply on the next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been ordered to file the reply in the respective case.

Hearing date of this case has been fixed while the respondent may appear in person or through his accredited representative.

The adjudication authority also directed the Customs Intelligence Deputy Director, Rana Irfan Shouqat, to attend the hearing on the scheduled date along with the relevant record.
