WELLINGTON: DEFSEC media has announced the impending launch of its latest magazine title, Line of Defence. The new magazine, to be released in February 2016, will break new ground as New Zealand’s only business magazine for the defence, national security and foreign policy sectors.
Line of Defence comes from strong New Zealand publishing pedigree. Its sister publication, NZ Security Magazine, has a reputation built over two decades as the premier business publication of the security industry. Its other stable mate, Fire NZ, is the flagship magazine for the country’s fire industry.
According to publisher Craig Flint, the launch of the new title is timely. “After two decades of providing the security industry with a vehicle to promote safety and standards to New Zealand and with the production of Fire NZ”, he stated, “there was still a gap that needed to be filled, and that is defence.”
The Line of Defence editorial team include seasoned practitioners, scholars and commentators of defence and strategic affairs, national security, international relations and government procurement. It is this expertise, claims Mr Flint, that will provide New Zealand businesses in the defence and national security sectors with a “powerful New Zealand media voice, and a trusted platform for national and international promotion.”
Traditionally a print media publisher, the magazine launch coincides with Defsec Media’s expansion into online publishing. “The launch of Line of Defence will also see the launch of our long awaited website www.defsecmedia.co.nz”, Mr Flint advised, “with a focus on social media engagement, we aim to keep our audiences up-to-date with current news, views and trends in the fire, security and defence industries.”
