ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved Rs11.3 per unit tariff for the electricity generated through 425MW Nandipur Power Project for 30 years.

The power regulatory authority has held responsible the Law and Justice Ministry in previous government’s tenure for delaying the project for about four years, which caused increase in the cost of the project by 160 per cent. The project, which would be completed by end this year, will cost $847m from $329 million and the ministry caused a loss of over Rs113 billion to the national exchequer, the Nepra quoted from a report of judicial commission headed by a former judge of the Supreme Court, Rehmat Hussain Jafferi.
