Delivering speedy justice is hallmark of Customs Adjudication: Deputy Collector Mueed Kanjoo

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office is facilitating respondents and tax consultants by offering speedy justice. Speedy disposal of cases in Customs Adjudication will end the needless pendency of cases, save substantial capital and recurring expenditure of the government which can be used for more productive purposes.

It was stated by Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Faisalabad Abdul Mueed Kanjoo while talking to Customs Today.

Speedy justice is the hallmark of Customs Adjudication and we ensure speedy justice to the respondents according to the rule of law and justice.

Customs Adjudication is disposing seizure cases on merit through fair trial of existing facts. Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has shown remarkable performance by disposing record number of seizure cases after completion of their legal trial in the first seven months of on-going economic year 2019-20.

Customs Adjudication Multan Camp has disposed almost 165 various seizure cases of worth Rs94.262 million up to January 2019-20.

He said that Customs Adjudication is giving full opportunity to respondents for presenting their case defense in the hearing of seizure cases during trial. Customs Adjudication is disposing all seizure cases speedily on merit to provide quick justice through transparent hearing and discouraged unnecessary delay in the seizure cases.

He said that Custom Adjudication is making every effort to dispose seizure cases before the bounded period of seizure and Adjudicating Officer is bound to decide any seizure case within 90 days of the issuance of show cause notice and I have decided all seizure cases within the assigned period after assuming my responsibility.

Kanjoo told Customs Today that Customs Adjudication finalized all under adjudication seizure cases with in time. Customs Adjudication disposed 360 seizure cases worth Rs605.576 million during the first seven months (July-January) of the on-going economic year 2019-20. All seizure cases were disposed with in restricted time of trial and confiscated items presented in auction for generation of revenue after completion of trial.

He told that Collectorate of Customs Adjudication is giving maximum output with its limited resources. Customs Adjudication is one of the revenue determining departments for the Customs and Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has provided handsome revenue through trial.

Customs Adjudication is delivering speedy justice through early hearing of seizure cases and discouraged unnecessary delay.
