Deputy Collector Adjudication issues show cause notice to owner of non-duty paid cigarettes

LAHORE: The Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication has issued a show cause notice to the owner of non-duty paid cigarettes.

According to the details, Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) in pursuant to an information sized foreign origin cigarettes near Chowk Shadman Market, Circular Road on on June 22, 2017 . On query, the owner identified himself as Munir Ahmed, a resident of Azad Kashmir. He stated that he purchased the foreign origin cigarettes from Shahalam Market.

Thereafter, the search led to the recovery of foreign origin cigarettes which included Pine King, Milano King, Dunhill London, Benson & Hedges, Davidoff, Hi-lite, AC Fakhar Grand gum mint flavor.

On demand, the owner could not produce any documentary evidence or otherwise in support of lawful possession of the these cigarettes.

After his failure, Customs ASO team seized the goods and after registering a case forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.

Now Deputy Collector Adjudication Mohammad Hassan Farid issued a show cause notice to the owner of these goods asking him to appear on 20.8.2018 at Air Freight Unit of Allama Iqbal International Airport at 11 a.m. to explain his position about the seized goods.
