Deputy Collector Asma declares seizure of Toyota Vitz legal

FAISALABAD: Custom Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued ONO in favor of Customs Intelligence and Investigation.

Earlier customs team intercepted a Toyota Vitz motor car of white colour bearing registration no. AKY-939 Karachi  near MM Alam, Mainwali .  Customs team asked the driver of Toyota Vitz who was identified as Mohammad Jameel son of Ghulam Hussain  who is resident of Jamia Islamia Madrasa Gali to show documents regarding possession of above said vehicle but he failed to show any relevant documents.

Therefore on the basis of aforesaid facts ,Mohammad Jamerl son of the Ghulam Hussain  called upon to show cause as to why the seized vehicle should not be confiscated for violation of section 2(S) read with SRO – 566 (1) , section 16&18 of the Customs Act. 1969, section 3 of sales tax act and as to why penal action be not taken against him under the law.

Intelligence Officer Main Muhammad Umer Bhatti was appeared from the petitioner side and no one was appeared from the respondent side. The case decided on the basis of the facts and material available.

Meanwhile, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed views all the stated facts/documents of the case. After it is proved that the seized Toyora Vitz motor car are smuggled one . The respondents have nothing to defend against the allegation framed in the show cause notice.

Therefore order for outright confiscation of the seized Toyota vitz motor car bearing registration no. AKY-939 – Karachi, chassis number frame is found cut and welded means original chassis number has been cut away and a bogus chassis number has been welded in the chassis frame . The FSL has clarified that chassis number is not original so that smuggled   vehicle used for transportation issued ONO in favor of customs.
