Deputy Collector Asma Hameed declares seizure of trailer as legal

FAISALABAD: The Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Asma Hameed issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of Anti-Smuggling Organization Faisalabad.

According to details, a team of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a trailer bearing registration no. JU-7834  Sindh . The smuggled vehicle was brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes through unauthorized way. The Customs team arrested the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Farman Ali.

The customs team asked the driver to produce documents regarding import of vehicle. But he failed to produce the lawful proof. The particular of the vehicle were checked on the website and found not tallied. The incharge of PRAL Customs Dry Port Faisalabad has informed that the vehicle having number no. JU-7834-Sindh  (cut & weld) imported in the country. Seizure report along with enclosures were submitted to adjudication authority for legal proceedings.

During proceeding it was revealed that as the result of forensic science laboratory, testing report of the vehicle i.e trailer bearing registration no: JU-7834-Singh, chassis number frame is found cut and welded means original chassis number has been cut away and a bogus chassis number has been welded in the chassis frame has been found cut and welded

Inspector Asghar Mehdi Naqvi  appeared from the petitioner side and no one was appeared from the respondent side. The case decided on the basis of the facts and material available. After hearing the case deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued ONO in favor of ASO Anti Smuggling Organization under section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act 1969.
