Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issues notice in smuggled Electric Cables, Mazda case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in case of non-duty paid cables and Mazda truck.

During the checking of vehicles, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration No.3294 and recovered smuggled electric cables.

The team asked the owner of the smuggled electric cables and the vehicle, Muhammad Azam, to produce documents regarding legal import of the vehicle and cable but he could not produce. Therefore, the officials impounded the Mazda truck and electric cables under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now the deputy collector issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89 of the custom Act, 1969 and be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law besides penal action as warranted in law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
