Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issues ONO in favour of ASO

FAISALABAD: The Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Asma Hameed has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of Anti-Smuggling Organization Faisalabad.

According to details, a team of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a Toyota Premio bearing registration no.  NW- 975 Islamabad.

The Customs team arrested the Owner and driver of the vehicle who was identified as Muhammad Azam  son of Muhammad Sharif  who is a resident of Faisalabad and second person named as Fahid Yakoob son of Muhammad Yakoob who is resident of Layyah .

The customs official asked the driver Muhammad Azam to produce documents regarding import of vehicle. But they failed to produce the lawful proof. The particular of the vehicle were checked on the website and found not tallied. The incharge of PRAL customs dry port Faisalabad has informed that the vehicle having chassis number no. ZRT260- 3018433  (cut & weld) , model 2007  , color in white ,engine no. 2ZR-FE  , house power is 1797-CC  (touch system, automatic gear and transmission included also ) was not imported in the country.

the proceedings, Inspector Ghulam Murtaza and Azhar Hussain  appeared from the petitioner side and no one was appeared from the respondent side. The case decided on the basis of the facts and material available. After hearing the case deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued ONO in favor of ASO Anti Smuggling Organization under section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act 1969.

Meanwhile Collector Customs Adjudication Mobashir Baig  issued  a show cause notice to a suspect who is allegedly involved in smuggling of used vehicle bearing registration no. LET – 3375 loaded with foreign origin cloth .

As per the details, acting upon information the customs intelligence team established check- post near Gutt Wala Toll Plaza , Faisalabad . They intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no. LET – 3375  loaded with foreign origin cloth.The driver of the vehicle identified as Muhammad Jameel Ali  Residence of the Faisalabad . Customs Intelligence authorities forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication Collector Mobashir Baig.

Collector  Mobashir Baig  during hearing the case of non-duty paid vehicle had issued notice to Accused person. The culprits have been directed to file their replies in their respective cases in next month. The case of vehicle might be decided in the next hearing.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. However, the adjudication has directed to file their replies by given time, which is also last date of hearing.

It is also necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication authorities expedited their efforts to conclude hearing of pending cases on priority basis. After comprehensive measures adopted by Customs Adjudication departments cases are being disposed off on daily basis which also helped to generate revenue.
