Sources told Customs Today that Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a vehicle near Guttwala Toll Plaza and recovered huge quantity of boski and foreign origin mobiles. The ASO team asked the owner of the vehicle who was identified as Abdul Ghafar  to show documents regarding legal import of cloth and mobiles but he failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of the above said items. Therefore, the ASo team impounded the goods under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued notices to the accused persons on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act, 1969 and served him a show cause notice as to why the seized item should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused person to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication authorities expedited their efforts to conclude hearing of pending cases on priority basis.
