Deputy Collector Asma issues ONO in favour of ASO Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued an Order in Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad on 3.1.2017.

As per details, ASO Faisalabad has confiscated imported foreign origin used auto spare parts including different HTV auto with hub 8 stud, HTV auto hub without CWP , HTV auto tube CWP and hub which were loaded on Mazda mini truck. The owner of the items Raja Muhammad Rafique failed to submit any relevant legal documents regarding possession and transportation f the auto parts. The seizing agency confiscated the smuggled auto parts according to section 16, 18 of the Customs Act 1969 and section of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89 of the Custom Act 1969 and forward the case to adjudication department for adjudication please.

Later, Raja Muhammad Rafique appeared before the deputy collector and submitted an affidavit to deal this case on behalf of the seized items and submitted a written request to release the seized smuggled item on payments of duty and taxes and also submitted written application for summary adjudication.

Meanwhile, as the respondents has shown his willingness to pay duty and taxes on the seized items which amount to confession.

Deputy collector Asmaa Hameed issued Order in Original (ONO) No 102/2017 in favor of the federal government under section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969. The CIF value as by the seizing agency is less than the bench mark of Rs1,50,000. However, the option is given under SRO-499 (1) 2009 to redeem the item in lieu of confiscation on payment of duty taxes leivable on the auto parts plus a redemption fine 20% of the customs value to be appraised by the customs Faisalabad under relevant customs laws.
