KARACHI: Deputy Collector, Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II Baasit Hussain has issued a show cause notice to M/s Hyperlink Traders for taxes/duties evasion of Rs 290,349 on import of women and children shoes.

As per details, the PCA, while auditing import data, found that importer M/s Hyperlink Traders imported consignments of artificial ladies children shoes through Customs Appraisement East, and claimed inadmissible benefits of SRO1125(I)/2011 dated 31.12.2011.

The sources said that the status of importer as available online in the FBR website’s NTN inquiry is that of an importers/exporter and the concern was not registered as a manufacturer at the time of subject imports. Therefore, an amount of Rs 290,349 was short paid or evaded.

Accordingly an audit observation was issued to the importer for explaining and clarifying as to what basis concessions were availed by them even when they were not manufacturers at the time of subject import.

In view of the aforesaid, M/s Hyperlink Traders are held to have intentionally and willfully caused loss to the government exchequer amounting to Rs 290,349 by illegal availing the benefits of SRO1125(I)/2011 dated 31.12.2011 which was evidently not admissible to them at the time of import. You are, therefore, called upon through the show-cause notice to clarify their position.
