Deputy Collector Beelamur Ramzan directs to seize consignment of M/s Elite Enterprises

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan has ordered to confiscate the consignment of Muhammad Afzal, the proprietor of M/s Elite Enterprises, as no one appeared before the authority to defend the allegations.

Sources told Customs Today that Muhammad Afzal, owner of M/s Elite Enterprises has imported miscellaneous consignments from Dubai by mis-declaring its description on the transshipment documents. Bonded Carrier namely M/s Pak Shaheen Cargo Services (Private) Limited, allegedly replaced the high value goods with inferior quality goods during transportation, fetching lower value and taxes.

After arrival of the said container, neither importer nor his authorised person approached for clearance of their consignment; therefore, the customs import branch seized the items along with container under Section 157(2) of the customs act, 1969.

Muhammad Jamil Ahmad appraiser represented the department. But no one appeared to defend the case from the respondent side nor any written reply had been received from the respondent.

Additional Collector after examining the whole case ordered to seize goods the goods under clause 14 of section 156(1) and section 157(2) of the customs act.
